Property Description: Yup, as boldly stated above, my favorite house in Downtown Bucharest - you really ought to see it. Why? The house was designed by an Austrian architect which surprised me because the villa most definitely has a very easy-going, almost Byzantine cloistered vibe about it. The living room with the columns and fold-down windows and the comfortable outdoor space and breezy terrace, the tall ceilings, the silky light and the beautiful and very practically designed arched ceilings, or interesting designed skylights just doesn`t feel efficient and practical" with a form follows strict function design, it feels romantic and bohemian and just gorgeous. It`s the kind of place where Queen Maria, or T. E. Lawrence would have belonged. That said, it is extremely practical and cleverly designed! Romanian Summer is hot (and getting hotter) and the Winters can still be cold and the fact that the owner and architect decided to build part of the house in the super-insulating ground is just genius. In this "High Basement" are three bedrooms with big windows that are cool in Summer and warmer in Winter, a full bathroom, a secondary toilet and bathroom, storage rooms and a reception. Upstairs in the Hoch Parter (raised ground floor) are the master bedroom suite, living room with wood-burning fireplace, kitchen, office and a large terrace settled off the living room and looking out at the garden which is shaded by a beautiful tree. Landlord also repurposed the garage and chauffeur lodge into an office / guest bedroom and recreational space. It`s lovely, just lovely!
Neighborhood Description: Downtown, not very far from the splendid Chismigiu Gardens. This means easy walking distance to both the cultural heart of the city, the new Entertainment district and Cotroceni. Easy option to walk to the opera followed by late dinner and happy walk home.
